Microsoft recently announced that ,Adobe has integrated Microsoft Intune application protection directly into the Adobe Acrobat Reader mobile app for iOS and android. For more information, please refer https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/blog/2019/09/05/adobe-acrobat-ios-android-microsoft-365-app-protection/

To deliver the best experience, Adobe will discontinue support for the Adobe Acrobat Reader Intune mobile app on November 30, 2019. All customers must migrate to Adobe Acrobat Reader mobile app, which now supports Microsoft Intune, to continue working in Acrobat on the go.  For more information, please refer https://helpx.adobe.com/acrobat/kb/intune-app-end-of-life.html

With this new app for iOS , there are some changes introduced which may confuse the end users on how to sign in to the app using work account in order to be protected and access corporate data.

For android, the steps are straight forward . You can install Adobe acrobat reader from play store, launch it, if your device is already enrolled to intune ,then it will automatically receive the MAM polices and display prompt ‘Your organization protected data in this app ’protected ,click ok and launch the app to open corporate data from managed apps like onedrive etc.

For iOS ,you need follow some steps to find intune enroll setting and enable it ,then sign-in with work account before you access your corporate data.

Following are the screenshots that will help you login to work account to enable the app for intune and access your work data securely.

As you can see above, you will have options to sign-in with google,Facebook and adobe ID.

There are no options to sign-in with corporate account.

If you try to sign-in with work account like me (eswar.koneti@eskonr.com) ,it will fail with following error ,Which means ,the domain eskonr.com is not federated on Adobe .

If your organization has not federated with Adobe, how do you login with work account to access work data ?

Go back to the page where you see  google/Facebook login.

Use either of the accounts (google/facebook)  or adobe ID if you already have an account created earlier. All we need is to sign-in to the app with any account so we can see the intune option to login with work account.

I use google account and complete the sign-in process as below.

Once you sign-in to the app ,click on preferences ,scroll down bottom of the page, you will see ‘Microsoft Intune’ Enroll ,move the slider.

As soon as you do this ,you will be prompted with sign-in page, you can key in your work account and complete the sign-in process.

Once the authentication is completed ,App will receive the MAM policy settings as you see below.

If you have not added adobe acrobat reader app (new app) to your MAM policy then you will not be able to sign-in to the app with your work account.

Even though i have adobe reader app added to MAM policy along with other applications like outlook /onedrive/teams ,it should not ask for PIN as other apps already configured with PIN and follow the same and it should take me to directly fingerprint (if you configure it on mobile ).

Note: I did not see the PIN for android app ,after the installation of app ,it directly took me to fingerprint screen.

Once you set the PIN ,you can now open work documents using adobe acrobat reader .

To remained you , there is known issue with saving docs on iOS Adobe Reader mobile app to the Adobe Document Cloud . For complete details and fix ,please read https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/Intune-Customer-Success/Support-Tip-Block-document-saving-from-the-iOS-Adobe-Reader/ba-p/841960

Hope this is useful.
